The English department's Reader’s Theatre took place on May 10th 2015. This event was part of the “Rhetorical Skills: Theory and Practice” course which all first year students in the English Department took part in. The aim of this course and their presentation was to improve their reading fluency and verbal skills. I believe that communication is the main goal in knowing a language and this course helped the students improve their communication through reading thus also their confidence

The students worked in pairs and I believe they have been practicing for weeks. The students themselves chose the scene they would read and read an introduction about that particular scene and about the playwright. Firstly, we had an introduction to the scene read by a different couple, followed by the scene itself. Each scene was different from the previous one, ranging from funny scenes to tragic. The students used very minimal costumes, and even thought microphones were not used we could hear them loud and clear
This was a great success as the presentations were presented in a good and professional manner. This was very enjoyable, powerful and a pleasure to watch. I would like to thank all the first year students, and Dr. Nancy Peled in particular, for their hard work and determination in putting together this wonderful event
